Daily standups or (daily meetings or Daily scrums or daily syncs) are considered as one of the important daily ceremonies of teams. They serve as a way for employees to communicate with each other and to discuss any pressing matters or concerns.
You can read more about daily standups if you want but in this article I am sharing various Daily Standup templates that I found when I was working on a project.
Why should I use a Daily Standup Template?
More and more people work remotely and asynchronous communication is a must. Having a company wiki or at least a place you gather all the historical info (along with the daily syncs) will prove helpful in the long term.
For such a template I would look for flexibility of keeping record of past activities and standups and to be short enough for people to quickly read and understand.
Types of Daily Standup Meeting templates
From my search I found a variety of such templates: free, paid, in various formats (excel or google sheets). Templates for Notion, for Miro and even templates that belong to daily standup bots like Geekbot.
Finding the best free and paid daily stand up templates online is not an easy task. I tried to separate those that I didn’t like so you don’t have to look for.
If you don’t want to scroll click here to jump to Notion, Slack, Miro, Airtable, Confluence, Coda, Asana, Mural, Canva, Excel or Google Sheets, Figma, Butter, InVision, Guru, Lucidchart, Trello, Email,
Or go directly to my Airtable collection here that you can sort and filter.

In the next session you will find how Geekbot has a much more efficient way of doing standups and tracking them through their slack bot. Though they have a great article and they offer two (yes 2) daily standup templates.
- An email template for sending a standup meeting agenda over an email (for holding synchronous standups).
- An email template for running standups over an email thread (for holding asynchronous standups).
These are pretty straightforward emails and if you prefer this (probably for archiving) then this article has some insights and the email templates.
Daily Standup Templates for Slack
When Zapier replaced their standups with a bot didn’t expect huge results. Instead they changed the way they do their dailies. You can configure Geekbot’s Daily Standup template and let it run for you.
They found Archivability and Transparency as the ultimate changers.
Archives: All of these updates are stored and can be viewed on Geekbot’s dashboard or found via search in Slack. This is helpful if you can’t remember who’s working on what, and it’s also a nice way for managers to look back on progress for any given employee.
Transparency: Anyone can see the contents of the “standup” in your public Slack channel. This means more transparency, especially if someone’s searching Slack for something specific that you talked about in your standup…
If you are a Slack user (or MS Teams) connect Geekbot and use their Daily Standup template (or you can see a demo here).
